It Takes Us All: The Three Aspects of Recovery

Over the past few days, we’ve had a lot of conversation and even a few misconceptions about what we’re trying to accomplish through Saved Life and The Forge. So, let’s take a moment to clear that up.

Our goal has never been to replace what others are already doing well. We’re not trying to build another rehab center or compete with existing services. What we are doing is creating a community partnership model — a place where faith, professional care, and recovery support come together to help people experience complete transformation.

We believe recovery is not one-dimensional — it’s a three-part journey that must address the spiritual, emotional (or mental), and physical aspects of a person’s life. Real transformation happens when all three are brought into alignment with God’s purpose and power.

“Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
2 Thessalonians 5:23 (NKJV)

1. Physical Recovery – Healing the Body

We understand that addiction takes a toll on the body. That’s why our 10-month program at The Forge embraces Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) as a legitimate and effective way to help with the physical side of recovery. MAT provides medical support during the detox phase, helping individuals safely manage withdrawal symptoms and begin the process of physical renewal.

However, before entering our program, all participants are required to provide a clean drug test. We believe in starting from a place of readiness — physically, mentally, and spiritually. MAT may assist in detox, but The Forge is a place for building a new life in Christ, and that begins with a commitment to sobriety.

2. Emotional and Mental Recovery – Renewing the Mind

The emotional and mental battles are often the hardest to fight alone. That’s why we are building strong community partnerships with professional service providers and licensed counselors who can walk with our participants through trauma, grief, anxiety, and mental health challenges. We believe in collaboration, not competition. We’re not here to re-create the wheel, but to partner with those already doing good work in our community.

3. Spiritual Recovery – Restoring the Soul

Our calling and focus as a ministry is on the spiritual side of recovery — helping men and women reconnect with God, discover their identity in Christ, and walk in freedom. We teach that true recovery isn’t just about staying sober; it’s about being redeemed, restored, and renewed through a living relationship with Jesus. That’s where transformation takes root and where lasting change begins.

Together, We Forge a New Way Forward

No single organization, church, or program can meet every need. But together, we can. At The Forge, we’re building a model that brings together medical professionals, mental health experts, ministry leaders, and local partners to create a whole-person approach to recovery.

Because recovery isn’t a solo journey — it takes us all.
