"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." John 3:16

Leader’s Preface

What Is The Quest?

The Quest to Become Recovered is a Christ-centered discipleship and recovery journey. It’s a 36-lesson pathway designed to move men and women from bondage to freedom, from brokenness to healing, and from survival to leadership. The Quest is not a program of quick fixes — it is a process of transformation built on Scripture, discipleship, and community.

The journey unfolds in three progressive stages:

  • Stage One: Soldier — Learning to fight for freedom in Christ and break the chains of addiction.

  • Stage Two: Squire/Maiden — Training with discipline, growing in maturity, and preparing to serve others.

  • Stage Three: Knight/Lady — Living with honor, walking in spiritual authority, and leading others on their own Quest.

The imagery of knighthood is intentional — it restores identity. Just as knights lived by oaths of honor, served their king faithfully, and fought to protect the weak, we are called to live with honor, serve Christ our King, and fight spiritual battles for others.

The Quest is about becoming who God intended you to be — and doing what He has called you to do.

Key Verse: “For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.” — Matthew 16:25

Meeting Format

Purpose of a Quest Meeting

A Quest meeting is not about checking boxes or rehearsing failures — it’s about transformation. We gather to seek truth, share honestly, and grow together in Christ. Every meeting is an opportunity to be renewed in mind, heart, and spirit.

The Flow of a Typical Meeting

  1. Welcome and Prayer — Begin with an opening prayer inviting the Holy Spirit to lead.

  2. Declaration of Identity — Read together (see below).

  3. Lesson or Discussion — Work through one lesson of The Quest to Become Recovered or a related study.

  4. Open Share or Reflection — A time for honest reflection, testimony, and encouragement.

  5. Closing Prayer — End with prayer for strength, unity, and continued growth.

Why We Meet

Because none of us were meant to walk this journey alone. We need each other — to hold each other up, to challenge one another, and to remind each other who we are in Christ. When we meet, we build something bigger than ourselves: the Kingdom of God.

Hebrews 10:24–25 (NKJV) — “And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.”

Declaration of Identity

Read Aloud at Every Meeting:

I am a Child of God — redeemed by His blood, restored by His grace, and called for His purpose.
I am no longer defined by my past, my addiction, or my failures.
I have been made new in Christ — and through Him, I have victory.
Today, I choose to live by faith, walk in truth, and fight for freedom — for myself and for others.
I am part of the Order of the Redeemed — enlisted in the King’s service.
I will live with honor, pursue holiness, and stand firm in battle.
My identity is not found in what I’ve done, but in what Jesus has done for me.
I am no longer bound — I am free.
I am becoming who God intended me to be.
