THE SEVEN MARKS
Every church develops a culture. The question is whether that culture develops intentionally or accidentally.
The Seven Marks of Saved Life – Pensacola describe the kind of church we believe God is calling us to become. They are not slogans for a wall. They are convictions that should shape our preaching, discipleship, leadership, community, recovery ministry, mission, and everyday life.
What should someone experience when they encounter Saved Life?
They should encounter a church centered on Jesus, serious about discipleship, honest about brokenness, committed to genuine community, focused on mission, willing to make room for overlooked people, and spiritually serious about following Christ.
Christ-Centered
Jesus Christ and Him crucified. Everything begins and ends with Him.
Saved Life – Pensacola will not be built around a personality, recovery philosophy, ministry brand, political cause, church trend, or religious program. Jesus Christ must remain at the center of everything we do.
Our preaching should point people to Christ. Our recovery should point people to Christ. Our worship should exalt Christ. Our discipleship should form Christ in people. Our community should reflect the character of Christ. Our mission should carry the Gospel of Christ into the world.
Discipleship-Driven
We are not satisfied with decisions alone. We want to see people transformed into mature followers of Jesus.
The Great Commission does not merely tell us to make converts. Jesus commanded us to make disciples. That means teaching people how to follow Him, obey His Word, grow in spiritual maturity, develop Christlike character, and help others do the same.
A healthy church should move people from simply attending toward belonging, growing, serving, leading, and making disciples.
Recovery-Minded
We believe we are all in recovery from the Fall.
Addiction is one expression of human brokenness, but it is not the only one. Pride, anger, fear, lust, bitterness, selfishness, shame, control, greed, unforgiveness, and countless other struggles reveal the deeper condition of the human soul.
Recovery is not simply stopping destructive behavior. It is the ongoing work of God restoring His image in us as the Holy Spirit transforms our minds, wills, emotions, relationships, character, and desires toward Christlikeness.
Mission-Focused
Each one reach one. Each one teach one.
Every disciple of Jesus is called to participate in the mission. Ministry is not reserved for pastors, staff members, missionaries, or people with titles.
We want every person at Saved Life – Pensacola to eventually become someone who can reach another person, share the Gospel, walk with someone through life, teach what they have learned, serve their community, and help another disciple grow.
Somebody reached us. Somebody taught us. Eventually, we become that person for someone else.
Community-Rooted
We do not recover alone, and we do not follow Jesus alone.
People need more than a Sunday crowd. They need relationships where they can be known, loved, challenged, encouraged, corrected, supported, prayed for, and held accountable.
We envision Saved Life Outposts, Transformation Journey cohorts, tables, homes, meals, conversations, prayer, Scripture, and ordinary life becoming places where discipleship happens naturally.
Biblical community means showing up for one another—not only when life is easy, but when somebody is struggling, rebuilding, grieving, failing, growing, or trying again.
For the Overlooked
There should always be room at the table for people who wonder whether they belong.
Saved Life – Pensacola will intentionally make room for the addicted, incarcerated, formerly incarcerated, people leaving treatment, broken families, people rebuilding after failure, the church-hurt, and those who have never felt comfortable inside traditional church culture.
That does not mean lowering the standard of discipleship. Jesus met people where they were, but He also called them forward into a new life.
We want to be a church where grace and truth live together—where people can be welcomed without pretending their brokenness does not matter, and challenged without being condemned by their past.
Spiritually Serious
We are not gathering merely to be entertained.
We want to be a church committed to prayer, repentance, holiness, Scripture, worship, evangelism, spiritual warfare, obedience, fasting, surrender, and the transforming work of the Holy Spirit.
We believe following Jesus is joyful, but it is not casual. Discipleship requires denying ourselves, taking up our cross, and following Christ.
We want Saved Life – Pensacola to be a place where people expect God to change lives, where prayer is more than an opening formality, where Scripture carries authority, where sin is taken seriously, where grace is celebrated, and where believers hunger to know God.
This is the church we are praying to become.
Christ-Centered
Jesus is the center, not the ministry.
Discipleship-Driven
We want people growing into mature followers of Jesus.
Recovery-Minded
We are all being restored from the effects of the Fall.
Mission-Focused
Every disciple eventually helps make another disciple.
Community-Rooted
People are known, loved, challenged, and supported.
For the Overlooked
There is room for people rebuilding their lives.
Spiritually Serious
We intend to take prayer, Scripture, repentance, holiness, obedience, and the presence of God seriously.
If these marks are truly part of our DNA, people should eventually be able to experience them without ever reading this page.
They should see Christ in our preaching. Discipleship in our relationships. Recovery in changed lives. Mission in our neighborhoods. Community around our tables. Grace toward overlooked people. And spiritual seriousness in the way we seek God.

The Seven Marks are meant to produce a church where people can come, encounter Jesus, belong to His people, grow into maturity, discover their place in the mission, and eventually go help someone else do the same.
That is why our mission remains simple:
EACH ONE REACH ONE.
EACH ONE TEACH ONE.
This is the church we are praying to become.
Saved Life – Pensacola is still in the foundation-building stage. We are praying, preparing, developing leaders, forming relationships, and seeking to establish this culture long before there is a large public gathering.
The Seven Marks give us a standard to return to as the church grows: Are we still centered on Christ? Are we making disciples? Are lives being transformed? Are we living in community? Are we reaching people? Are we making room for the overlooked? Are we still serious about seeking God?
